Fowl pox is viral disease.It is a disease of birds ,more common in chickens,turkeys,pigeons and other of same type.Today,we will discuss this disease in detail that how it spreads,its causes and its treatment so read it .
CAUSE OF FOWL POX:
Different names are given to this disease.It is aslo known as chicken fowl.In Asian countries like Pakistan,India,Bangladesh people call it Chichak, Mata ,thandiyaa and some also call it zeharabaad.It is a viral disease.It is caused by bites of insects mainly by mosquitoes .It spreads from chicken to chicken within days.
SYMPTOMS OF FOWL POX:
So,how will we know that our chickens are sick from fowl pox.One easy way is to simply look at their face.Their face will be full of pimples and pox.Transparent liquid will be running from them and in severe cases pox turn into pocks making their beautiful face ugly and their eyes turn foamy and watery.And sometime their eyes become swollen and are closed .And can become even more serious if left untreated. So,its important for chicken owner to know the treatment of fowl pox.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO:
When ever you feel that some of your chickens are not doing well or you feel them lazy and sick go and catch them and put them in a separte cage so your other chickens may not be effected by it.
The next thing you are recommended to do is give them chopped onions and garlic .These are most important and good for your chickens.Onions and garlic are natural antiseptic making your chickens healthy .
TREATMENT OF FOWL POX:
In order to treat fowl pox you need some kind of medicines that helps to dry up acne or that helps in filtering the blood .In my case I use "Septran syrup" that helps in drying acne and a homeopathic medicine "Safi" ,it helps in blood purification and reduces acne and pox.Well, these are some treatment that you may use but I know most of you will not find them on stores because these are present in some areas but don't get worried I have another solution for you all that is some natural cure.Now,be happy and smile. Take a tomato and cut it into two halves take one halve and gently rub it on the face of your sick chicken for about 3-5 minutes now don't throw it away rather give this rubbed tomato halve to this sick chicken as it will work as a vaccine.And the sick chicken will recover herself within a few weeks.I know some of you will find it odd but its a fact it is a tried and very old method.And for the acne on her comb and wattles you may use potash alum as it help in drying acne.For this take potash alum(some people in asia also call it "Pathkari" ) and convert it into powder .Now mix adequate amount of water in it and mix it well and make a paste.Now apply this paste of potash alum and water on the acne leaving the areas near eyes and mouth,as it can irritate and harm eyes .Apply this for 3-5 times a day for about 9-10 days .This will dry up all the acne and after that apply oil of any kind.Oil will make the comb and wattles moisturized and will make it look better.
